Above All, Take Up the Shield of Faith, The Armor Of God!

Every morning we wake up and have our morning routine, like have something to eat, brush our teeth, and get dressed. It is so intuitive and natural that we usually don’t even think about it. It is a habit. Just like we put on our entire outfit each day, we must be aware to put on the spiritual attire which is what a soldier wears, the “whole armor of God” daily as a regiment in our Christian lifestyle!

Ephesians chapter 6, Paul talks about putting on the whole armor of God. He conveyed his message in these terms because people of the day would have been familiar with how Roman soldiers dressed for battle. Every piece of the Roman soldier’s armor had some spiritual significance. We know that the pieces of armor he refers to are: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, sword of the spirit, feet of the Gospel of peace, shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation.

In Ephesians 6:13, Paul emphasizes that we need to take and put on the whole armor of God so that we may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand. Unfortunately, we live on Earth right now. This earth has a fallen nature, but we are here to bring Heaven back to Earth. Jesus taught us to pray “on Earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10). In the process of this work, we are targets. We are soldiers. We are fighting the good fight. The enemy has not forgotten his assignment. He is roaming as a roaring lion seeking those of us who will let him devour us. There are fiery darts being thrown in our direction ALL the time. This is so important to understand. We have to be aware that this is happening in the spirit realm. What happens in the spirit realm feeds over into the natural realm.

The Shield of Faith is that piece of the armor Paul puts special emphasis on!!! He says in Ephesians 6:16, “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” So, it is important to wear all of the pieces of armor, but ABOVE ALL, we must take the shield of faith. Faith is a shield in battle. Whether we like it or not, we are soldiers. In order to fight, we must take faith with us. No matter what comes our way, we can use our faith to quench fiery darts that only want to take us out. Faith stops and acts as a barrier between the fiery darts and us, stopping them in their tracks. It acts like water to extinguish the fire and put out the flame.

How do we Identify and Block the Fiery Darts?

There are too numerous to list of fiery darts:

“THOUGHTS” …….The enemy whispers thoughts to us constantly that we must be aware of. These thoughts are not our thoughts. The source is the enemy. We are not the source. God certainly is not the source. The enemy may whisper thoughts such as, “You will never bring in enough income to live in financial freedom. You will always struggle.” This is clearly from the enemy because it is a lie. The Bible tells us that satan is the father of lies. Therefore, it cannot be from God or us. We must identify the source of the fiery dart. If we don’t use faith, then the fiery dart will hit us and we will be severely injured by the flames. If enough of the darts hit us, they will take us out and kill us.

Therefore, we must use faith. By faith, we take the Word of God. We say that this is not our thought. We stop it in its path and extinguish it by speaking the Word of God instead. We can say, “I am the head and not the tail. I am above and not beneath. I am blessed coming in and going out.” These are words of faith. When we use the shield of faith, it works.

The Passion Translation phrases Ephesians 6:16 says:”In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one!” Having a wrap-around shield is a great thing, especially when there are continuous fiery darts coming at you. It will protect you on all sides. There is no part of you that is left exposed. That’s how powerful faith is. This is why Paul said, “ABOVE ALL, TAKE THE SHIELD OF FAITH.” The word “TAKE” means “to receive or accept.” In Roman times, the Roman soldier would put on all his pieces of armor. Then after all of it was on, an attendant or armor bearer would hand him his helmet. The soldier would have to receive or accept, effectually TAKING the shield.

The shields of that day were large, oblong, rectangle or oval pieces of wood, covered with linen and hide bound with iron. They were very large and protected the soldier’s whole body. There was no part of the soldier that was left exposed. Other pieces of the armor were used to just defend one part of the body. The shield then was a final and all-encompassing protection. When soldiers marched next to each other, side to side, they would put up their shields next to each other to form a solid wall of protection.

The shield was one of the Roman soldier’s most prized and highly regarded pieces of armor. The ancient armies used fiery darts as weapons and soldiers used their shield to protect them from these. Just as the soldier shielded himself from this barrage of arrows by using his shield, we too must activate our faith. We must take the shield of faith and refuse to part with it!!!

There is Victory in Hearing the Word of God!

Taking and refusing to part with faith is a daily task. We know that in Romans 10:17, it says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” We must hear the Word of God. We must constantly put a steady diet of the Word of God into ourselves. Then it will be there as we need it daily. And we will need it. That is a sure thing. Christ gave us the gift of faith when we accepted Him. It is Christ’s faith in us, not our own faith, that we take up and use. And because Jesus has already overcome the world, His faith in us is victorious. That is another sure thing.

Apostle Paul also knew how valuable and important the shield was. When he referred to the shield of faith, he was not referring to a “Passive Faith”. Remember always that the shield of faith is something we should refuse to part with! Apostle Paul was referring to Psalm 91:4-5 when he referred to the shield of faith: “He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.” These verses speak of complete and absolute safety from the enemy, being shielded in every direction.

By taking and using the shield of faith, we create a barrier where no fiery dart can touch us. We are surrounded by a circle of protection. As we live our lives here on Earth, we will live the good life, sheltered and protected by “ABOVE ALL, taking the shield of faith.” Faith—take it, receive it, apply it, use it, and refuse to never part with it! BE BASED IN FAITH.

Are You Ready for the Master Potter?

Are you a vessel ready for the Master Potter to break, knead, bend and re-shape over and over in the potters’ wheel? Yes, many of you may  attempt to put yourselves to use, without the process of the breaking, molding, refining fire, the hardening, and the process of waiting to be form into a shape to stand firm and strong by the Mater Potter!  In this manner, you will never make it to the ultimate and high calling that He has for you, if you do not allow Him to take you through this process.

If you try to make it happen yourself, without waiting for Him to make it happen.. If you jump out of the process, and run out to do the “work of the Kingdom”, you may do some, but you will not accomplish all He has set for you to do while you are on this earth instead be burned out physically and depress!

He is looking for completely yielded vessels. A yielded vessel that means a vessel yielding his/ hers desire to be something, yielding their  desire to make something happen, yielding their wants and thoughts of what “they are call” and ministry will be…yielding it all to Him, and letting Him break it, mold it, and make it, into what He wants it to be. He is looking for vessels of honor, set apart, holy and righteous unto Him!

Are you one of those who has been taken through the extreme breaking? The crushing & molding? The refining fire and the hardening? Have you been sitting on the shelf waiting?

Don’t worry, my brother, my sister…you are simply being made a vessel, fit for the Master’s use! You have been taken into the furnace, and the heat has been turned up very hot…to melt away the impurities. Because you are not just any vessel…you are being made to be a vessel of honor, to fit in the Master’s hand, and to be used as a drink offering unto Him! Your life will be one poured out for Him.

You all have cry and sang to the Lord asking Him not to let fire in His altar burns out!  Now many have been in this process, Lord saying:  “Do not become discouraged in the breaking, in the refining fire, and in the waiting! For He has not forgotten you, but have simply answered your cry…the cry of your heart to be made a vessel formed and shaped by My hand.

He has been forming you, molding you into something beautiful for His particular purpose…and you will be used in a greater way, for a greater purpose, than even what you have imagined. He has been forming you into a beautiful vase, with intricate details that only He know and understand. He has made sure you are hardened for the task ahead, but remember to still stay pliable in His hand, and do not let the hardening process harden your heart!

You must be soft hearted, yet strong in will and purpose! You are being formed and fashioned into a beautiful masterpiece, yet only the Master Potter can see what the final result will be. Let Him heal you of your wounds, and of your scars, so that you will be a purified vessel, so that you will be a vessel without the marring of the process. Let Him smooth out your jagged edges, and make you a beautiful creation, the vessel He has chosen to carry His Glory!

“I am setting you apart, a holy vessel, set apart for My use alone, made fit for My purposes.

Do not think it strange that you have had to walk through so much to come to this place, for it is the ancient path, and it is the way of Your Master.”

Will you cry out with me again today ~ “Master, make me a vessel fit for Your use! I surrender it all to You…not my will, not my desire, not my ambitions, but Yours! Make me what You want me to be, and make me fit, spirit, soul, and body…a vessel of honor, completely fit for Your use!”

“Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:20-21)

The Fire Of God

The Lord has ignited a flame of fire in you, you can feel the flame growing as the Holy Spirit continues to fan the flame. This flame is not a flame to burn off those things which hinder your future growth, this flame has been birthed in to to be a carrier of the fire of the Lord, to breathe on others, igniting them to be true servants of the Lord.

You are in a season of igniting others, and The Lord will put you in the right place at the right time, for the right person, for the Lord is rasing up those who can carry the fire, not getting burned out themselves

Do not be taken by apathy and excuses for where you are but allow the fire of God to burn everything in you that does not reflect His glory. Run between the living and dead and bring reconciliation! Stand between the porch and the altar to see revival in our time!

Deep within us burns a passion that was ignited by the fire of God. He is fanning the flames of these fires so we are overwhelmed with a desire to be all we have been created to be. Every single person who has breath in their lungs has been given a purpose. There is not one person that is a mistake. Although some may have had parents who gave you up at birth, unable to care for you, or you have experienced abandonment issues in other areas of your life as a teen or an adult – you must know that you have a Heavenly Father that planned and purposed you for such a time as this! (Esther 4:14 AMP)

Each day we encounter his Spirit we are changed.  What you need is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire.  The fire of God comes and consumes all that is not of him. Just like the three Hebrew children when we are in the fire we meet him there.  The only thing that the children had in the fire was Christ.  When we experience that same fire He begins to shift us from the old nature into the new.  The new is much nicer.  This is the grace of God.  He comes when we don’t even deserve it and begins to change us from glory to glory.  His peace begins to fill our lives in such a way that we are never the same again.

In a camp fire that has died out, but underneath it the embers were still red hot. The embers radiated heat long after the fire was put out and could easily ignite again if they were stoked, poked or if wind blew upon them. The embers were smoldering which means that they are still burning yet without a flame. Some of you have lost your zeal for the things of God and you need your fire to be rekindled.

In the book of Leviticus, God sent fire on the altar for the burnt offerings. Although the fire was kindled by God Himself, the priests had to continually keep it from ever dying out. This required a regular removal of the ashes and anything which would hinder the fire from burning. Jesus wants to ignite the fire in your life once again and remove anything that is preventing this fire from being rekindled.

In Leviticus 9:23-24 God supernaturally sent the fire on the altar for the burnt offerings. As Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle, the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people, and the fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering on the altar. As the people saw this they shouted and fell on their faces.

The Lord says: You have built an altar before Me, and you have made sacrifices which I have set My fire upon, but you have not been able to keep this fire ablaze. Allow Me to rekindle the flame that has diminished. Allow me to rekindle the fire once again that the enemy has continually tried to extinguish. Don’t allow anything to annihilate your zeal for Me, but stir yourself up once again. Allow Me to breathe upon the embers to rekindle that flame that has died out. Throw off the weights of oppression that are causing this fire to smolder.

Renew the passion that once burned in your heart and allow Me to release My glory in your life in an unprecedented way. Don’t allow the cares of this world to weigh you down and drag you into a place of complacency. It is time to refocus and renew the passion that you’ve once had. As you take your eyes off the natural realm, and look to the supernatural realm which is unseen, I will empower you to accomplish all that I have assigned for you to do.

Receive the fresh impartation of My fire and allow the embers of your heart to be reignited once again. Remove any debris and anything that is causing the embers to smolder, and as you do, expect to receive divine encounters. As you take the limits off Me and allow Me to ignite a passion in you, you will once again experience My glory.

Allow Me to remove discouragement and set you ablaze once again. Don’t resist the changes which are needed to bring you into the fullness of what I have for you. Allow My Word to penetrate your heart as a fire shut up in your bones. Do not allow weariness to overtake you, but resist any spiritual fatigue that tries to put out this fire. Do not be moved by adverse situations but continue to fan the flames and stoke the fire once again. As you allow My fire to consume your life, it will soon become an inferno and you will become ablaze with My glory to advance My kingdom on this earth as it is in heaven says the Lord.

Leviticus 6:13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.

2 Timothy 1:6 (AMP ) That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands with those of the elders at your ordination]

Jude 20-21 But you. Beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

There is a fresh baptism of fire, the fire of His presence and His love that has begun in the Church, but is about to increase significantly in intensity and moment that is birthing a SYNERGY of burning Holy Spirit fire with a passion for the Gospel. These baptisms of fire that are taking place now and going to significantly increase across the body of Christ are igniting and going to ignite the FIRE OF EVANGELISM and a deep revelation of the Cross and Resurrection, the beautiful Gospel message within the Church in an explosive way. I have seen people within the body of Christ so overwhelmed and burning with the revelation of the Gospel and the fire of His love, the perfect love of Jesus, going into the world sharing the greatest love story ever told, with a completely NEW and FRESH FIRE.

These baptisms of fire will so engulf His people in the well of the Gospel as a whole new realm of being re-awed and filled with wonder at the simplicity and profundity of the Gospel. There is a divine re-engagement with the Gospel that will take place in this baptism of Holy Spirit fire. Deep, deep wells of encounter.  This synergy of burning Holy Spirit fire for the Gospel I saw was SO powerful, believers were transformed, chains of fear of sharing the Gospel gone, and a new boldness bursting forth within the Church. The fire of His love that consumed God’s people and flowed THROUGH them was so beautiful, transforming, culture and nation changing. The Bride was AWAKE and ALIVE in a way I had never seen.

RECEIVE HIS HEART OF LOVE FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT YET KNOW HIM! The Lord is wanting to release a greater impartation of His heart to the body of Christ for those who do not yet know Him. I saw life changing encounters with Jesus happening all across the world as the Lord began to ignite the fire of His love for those who don’t know Him in significant ways. The fire of His love and revelation of His heart SO POWERFUL in these encounters, it AFFECTED the way the CHURCH WOULD SEE. I saw these powerful encounters taking place and scales of judgement, criticism, accusation falling off many of God’s people and they began to SEE the world and those who do not yet know Him, through HIS EYES. A greater awakening of loving the down and out, the broken, the hurting, seeing them as HE sees in a greater way. Believers all across the earth were being transformed by LOVE and His heart of love for ALL people. I watched as the Church began arising in a whole new revelation of the LOVE of Jesus and LOVING PEOPLE TO LIFE. LOVING people to the One who is the way, the truth, and the life, our beautiful Jesus.

There is a fresh baptism of fire birthing a synergy of burning Holy Spirit fire for a passion for the Gospel upon the Church. Position yourself before Him and ask for it. Cry out for it. Say YES to His invitation, because He wants to increase and release His heart to you to SEE as He sees, to LOVE as He loves and to share the truth of the Gospel wherever you go, the greatest love story the world has ever known. Get ready to see John 3:16 burn within you like you have never known. Ask Him! Ask Him! Ask Him! He’s releasing His heart!

“God did not send His Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Saviour and rescue it” – (John 3:17 – The Passion Translation)

There is a new infilling coming to us that is like that of Acts 2. One we have not seen manifest before. Fresh fire, fresh revelation, new gifts coming to ALL who are surrendered, seeking Him, carrying His Glory, dripping in love and humility. People who have never been able to sing will get their vocal cords tuned by Heaven. New lyrics and music will be written with the sounds of Heaven resonating off each word and note. The fire of God will touch peoples’ mouths so that when they open, the words of God spoken will bring a heavy Glory that falls over everyone that hears. Deaf ears will hear the sound of Heaven and blind eyes will see the Glory of Heaven. We will see those wrecked by Heaven’s love shifting atmospheres of depression, oppression and sickness. Others will feel the healing fires of Heaven while standing in their presence. Heaven manifesting here on Earth in all its miraculous nature will become the “new normal”!

We must understand that the Lord is now moving in a much different way through the body of Christ. He is sending us out to change the world through magnificent displays of love and incredible acts of faith – drawing the attention to the supernatural existence of His power in our lifetime. It is time that we host His presence daily and show this world that Heaven truly IS AT HAND!

“Then Moses and Aaron went into the Tabernacle, and when they came back out, they blessed the people again, and the glory of the Lord appeared to the whole community. Fire blazed forth from the Lord’s presence and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When the people saw this, they shouted with joy and fell face down on the ground.” Leviticus 9:23-24 NLT

The Fire of God Pruning Us! To my surprise, I suddenly came into a time of both heavy warfare and the fire of God pruning me very deeply. God was speaking to the very depths of me, the often overlooked corners and nooks of my heart. There, He was pouring out His ever so wonderful yet confronting, powerful love. It was arresting areas in me that were holding me back from moving into this greater place I was hungering for.

The warfare I experienced was the darkest I have felt when the enemy tried to take me out. I woke up in cold sweats, had nightmares, and every day for weeks I was fighting an irrational fear and was in anguish that just didn’t seem to go away. At the same time, my well was drying up. Almost all revelation was evaporating completely, and I felt frustrated and muzzled.

“But God,” I would say, “I am in ministry. I can’t be facing this stuff, I see people healed of this!” Yet even in the middle of that I felt a deep, deep longing in me begin to cry out. It was a cry of a son wanting more of His Father. It was a craving that wouldn’t and couldn’t settle for anything but Him. I lost all desire for anything else and I had zero capacity for anything but just being with Him. Again, He whispered to me, “Do you really want more of Me?” Still I said, “Lord, it’s all I want!”

One morning I woke up and sensed the same consuming fear trying to come over me. It was like what I had experienced for the 5 weeks prior. I heard the Lord say to me, “Play your harp, David!” So I went to my piano and began worshipping the Lord until His glory filled the room. In that moment, the fear left completely! Instantly my voice came back, revelation returned, and a peace like a river flooded me again.

I saw many prophets so deep in the Word of God, so deep in the truth of Scripture and encountering Jesus, that the Lord was releasing these keys of revelation which were then being birthed into arrows of fire. These arrows of fire were then going to be released as prophetic words into the Body of Christ and they were going to bring a change of direction, a cleansing, a purifying and an igniting.

For there are encounters upon many prophets in this season where the fire (like the fire John the Baptist carried to prepare the way for Jesus) is going to be imparted into these prophets. The prophets will be rising up in such increase in strategic prophetic words from God, and with greater accuracy and clarity, which will call the Church to prepare for the greatest move of God we have seen upon the earth. The voices will rise up more and more with the sound of “Cleanse your hearts, prepare your hearts—He’s coming!”

They will carry not hearts of judgment, criticism or slander, but hearts of love, hearts of encouragement, and hearts to bring correction with love and rooted in Biblical truth. They will speak the words of the Lord with such integrity and purity, because they have been in the heart of the Father. They have not sat with the Father just to “get words”. They have remained in the heart of the Father to hear what He is saying, to know Him, and to carry His heart wherever they go. As a result, every word they release will be full of His encouragement, edification, comfort and exhortation.

What is Long Suffering? How do we apply this in our walk as a Christian?

Long suffering is one of the Fruits of the Spirit. The Greek word—humpomonee—is translated “patience” in almost all Bible versions and implies patient endurance. The other Greek word is even more interesting. It is makrothumia, translated “patience” in some Bible versions but more accurately as “long suffering” in others. Greek word makro (which gives us the English prefix macro) means “large” or “long.” The root word thumos means “temper.” Therefore makrothumia literally means long-tempered, the opposite of short-tempered or having a short fuse. Without makrothumia, we human beings tend to be temperamental—having an irritable temperament and bad temper. We tend to “lose patience” and “lose our cool” and even “blow up” (like an impatiens plant).

Long suffering is more than just suffering wrongs unjustly; it is suffering without letting anyone know that you are suffering. It is when you bear the wrongs done to you quietly, when you pray with sincerity for those who have done wrong towards you. Long suffering is also the willingness to endure hardness for the sake of someone else.

When we complain about our circumstances, we are not being “long suffering” we are instead being “long complaining”. This is especially true for all those who claim to be saved born again, Christians. If we say we are saved, yet we complain about all that is wrong in our live the world etc. then what we are doing is saying we serve an awfully weak God by our attitude saying that God is not God.

Long suffering is virtually the opposite of anger, especially of “outbursts of wrath” (2 Corinthians 12:20). Many people tend to overreact. They quickly get on the defensive, interpret remarks as attacks and then strike back. Many people carry a lot of inner anger from their past. Every small hurt or annoyance adds to the storehouse of anger. The slightest provocation brings the anger to the surface and into the open.

Anger usually involves a spiteful attitude of retaliation and revenge. But God forbids this: “Bless those who persecute you . . . Repay no one evil for evil . . . do not avenge yourselves” (Romans 12:14, 17, 19). The Bible teaches mercy and forgiveness. People tend to excuse their anger, but most human anger is self-centered and sinful. “The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God” (James 1:20). Hardly anyone will admit to hating people. But the Bible defines love and hatred largely by people’s actions. Love is expressed through helping people, while hate is demonstrated through harming people (see Romans 13:10).

Paul described the behavior of love: “Love suffers long and is kind . . . [It] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). The New International Version renders his words this way: “Love is patient, love is kind . . . It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Our thoughts and attitudes are likewise important, as they are the source of our actions and words: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).

Therefore we should honestly examine our attitudes. Each of us should ask: Am I motivated by love, respect, patience and compassion, or am I motivated by resentment, contempt, intolerance and hardness of heart? “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy” (Psalm 145:8). That’s the way He expects us to be!

Consider carefully these wise words about being “long-tempered”: “He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly” (Proverbs 14:29). “A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger allays contention” (Proverbs 15:18). “The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression” (Proverbs 19:11).

James wrote, “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).  When appropriate anger is expressed, it will likely be under control. If your feelings are hurt and you feel the need to immediately say something, speak softly and don’t say anything to hurt back. “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). Anger and animosity can be the result of many negative influences. The evil influence we all are infected with is our own selfish nature. In Galatians 5:19-21, the apostle Paul refers to our human nature as “the flesh” and our selfish tendencies as the “works of the flesh.” These include “hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders”!

The first step of long suffering is to exercise restraint and do nothing. We must think first! What does God want me to say or do? Take as much time as you need to pray and plan regarding the wise and constructive way to approach the other person. Your goal is to act lovingly rather than reacting hatefully. When a person is too concerned about winning an argument, he can end up losing a friend. Don’t be too concerned about who is right or demanding your rights. Learn to be agreeable even when you disagree. Pray for God’s help with this.

Ways to walk out Long Suffering in our walk as a Christian:

1. Bearing all that comes your way, knowing that God is able to work That God can and will meet all of your needs in his time.

2. Continue to believe that God is who he says he is, even when all those around you are prospering and you are not.

3.  Knowing that God will in His time relieve this world of all that is wicked.

4.  It is not something that comes about easily and does not happen overnight.

5.  A pattern of joyful living, living a life that honors God and does not belittle God by complaining about temporary circumstances we face in this life. It is remembering that one day all the problems that trouble us today will be forgotten in a distant past.

6. It is a virtue needed more than ever when impatience, intolerance, oversensitivity and impulsive anger are so prevalent.

Bible mentions waiting, patience, perseverance or long suffering, it is often in connection with trusting in God to intervene for us in our need, as He assuredly will: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

In Colossians 3:12-13, Paul describes the nature of someone who is led by God’s Spirit: “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.” (He states something very similar in Ephesians 4:1-3.)

Even without God’s help, people can learn to be calm and patient much of the time because they see the advantages. But these good intentions and good habits are not nearly as powerful as God’s supernatural gift of long suffering. Good interpersonal relationships depend on you doing your best plus trusting God with the rest. We human beings are pitifully incomplete without God’s Spirit.

Discerning of Spirits and Discernment

Discerning of Spirits …,,As Christian Believers discerning of spirits is necessity to deal effectively with the spiritual realities of this fallen world. As with the manifestations of a message of knowledge and a message of wisdom, discerning of spirits is revelation from God, not “guesswork” or “a feeling.” It is wrong and harmful for any of us to say that someone has a demon unless we get actual revelation about it and the guidance to reveal it.

Too many Christians mistake their own feelings for “revelation” from God. When it comes to the manifestations of holy spirit, we dare not be like the false prophets who thought their own deep thoughts and feelings were revelation from God (Jer. 14:14). The manifestation of discerning of spirits is one that enables Christians to set captives free. We must use it like Christ did in his life, with love, humility, accuracy, and boldness. God has a purpose in revealing things to us, whether how to pray in a certain situation or the discerning of evil forces at work

The gift of “discernment of spirits” or “distinguishing between spirits.” The Greek word for the gift of discernment is “Diakrisis.” The word describes being able to distinguish, discern, judge or appraise a person, statement, situation, or environment. In the New Testament it describes the ability to distinguish between

The gift of discernment, is not about discerning the hearts of people but about discerning the source of something. When you are operating in the gift of discernment, you are recognizing where the driving force behind an action is coming from. Many times, the actual motivational force behind people’s actions and behavior is not clear. This is where the gift of spiritual discernment comes to play.

3 categories of spirits discerned by the gift of discernment:

1. The Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God living in the inside of born again believers in Jesus. This is recognized by the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit talked about in Galatians chapter 5.

2. The human spirit. Man is a triune being created in the image of God. He has body, soul, and spirit. The spirit of man usually can be recognized by a self-centered or egotistical point of reference.

3. Demonic spirits. These are fallen angels of whom, Satan is the leader. They are not all knowing, or all powerful, or have other attributes only attributed to God, but they are powerful and dangerous. You can tell if you are dealing with a demonic spirit by the fact that they are always in opposition to the advancement of the kingdom of God. They will oppose the advance of the kingdom of God in the life of an individual or in the region of humanity they are in charge of.

Discerning of spirits is the supernatural ability given by the Holy Spirit to perceive the source of a spiritual manifestation and determine whether:

a) it is of God (Acts 10:30-35),

b) of the devil (Acts 16:16-18),

c) of man (Acts 8:18-23), or of the world. It is not mind reading, psychic phenomena, or the ability to criticize and find fault.

The case of Ananias and Sapphira chapter 5 of Acts.

1. The woman that followed Paul around proclaiming him to be servants of the most high God. This was in Acts 16.

2. A man named Barjesus tried to keep Sergius Paulus from the truth Paul was preaching in Acts 13.

3. In Acts 8 when Simon wanted to buy the power to give people the Holy Ghost.

4. The Pharisees who followed Jesus around just to find fault, not because they desired to hear Him

Also discerning of spirit with healing:

example is Mark 7:31-37that was healing the deaf and the dumb but in

1. Matthew 9:33 it was a demon directly and had to be cast out

Discerning of spirits must be done by the power of the Holy Spirit; He bears witness with our spirit when something is or is not of God. The gift of discerning of spirits is the supernatural power to detect the realm of the spirits and their activities. It implies the power of spiritual insight – the supernatural revelation of plans and purposes of the enemy and his forces. It is a gift which protects and guards your Christian life.

The gift of discernment of spirits and the seer are two very different things. The gift of discernment of spirits is expressly a gift to distinguish between spirits. For example, being able to tell whether someone is speaking in tongues by the Holy Spirit or by a demon.

The manifestation of discerning of spirits is interwoven with the other manifestations. For example, a believer manifesting discerning of spirits may be simultaneously aware of the presence of the demon, know what to do about the situation, and begin to command it to come out of the person. Receiving the information about the demon and knowing what to do is similar to, and interwoven with, a message of knowledge and a message of wisdom, while casting out the demon can be in the category of working a miracle (Mark 9:38 and 39), even as a healing can be a miracle (Acts 4:16).

Every Christian will encounter demons, whether he recognizes them or not. What a great blessing and comfort to know that God has equipped each of us to deal with any demon that comes against us. Ephesians 6:12, which says we wrestle with demonic powers, is written to every Christian. Jesus was the first person to regularly and effectively use the power of God to recognize and cast out demons (Matt. 8:16, 9:33, 10:1, etc.), and it is primarily from his example that we learn about discerning of spirits. He taught his disciples about the spiritual battle, and commanded them to cast out demons also (Matt. 10:8; Luke 10:17).

Through the manifestation of discerning of spirits Peter accurately discerned that Satan filled the heart of Ananias (Acts 5:3), and Paul knew that Elymas was a child of the Devil (Acts 13:10). Via discerning of spirits Paul knew that the slave who was mocking them was not just a disgruntled pagan, but someone under the influence of a demon, and he also knew the proper time to cast it out, after having put up with her mocking “many days” (Acts 16:16-18).

The seer, on the other hand is a prophet who tends to SEE. Their gift tends to flow in terms of visions, dreams, and divinely imparted knowledge and understanding. Unlike someone with a gift of knowledge, the seer’s gift is received in the womb, and it is in a manner of speaking always ‘tuned in.’

The gift of discerning of spirits & discernment are two very different things. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth. In other words, the ability to think with discernment is synonymous with an ability to think biblically.

First Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.” The apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required.

The key to living an uncompromising life lies in one’s ability to exercise discernment in every area of his or her life. For example, failure to distinguish between truth and error leaves the Christian subject to all manner of false teaching. False teaching then leads to an unbiblical mindset, which results in unfruitful and disobedient living-a certain recipe for compromise.

Observing what a person does. In Matthew 7:15-20. Jesus explains that false prophets are known by their fruit-their conduct and actions

Observing whether or not a person exalts Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as Lord and Savior 1 Corinthians 12:3. By listening what a person say 1 John 4:1-3. Does their confession line up with the truth of God’s Word?

Discernment will help us to know whether someone is just in the flesh, giving forth his own opinion or obeying the Holy Spirit and giving a prophecy. Sometimes an evil spirit will mimic and copy the real and discernment will know the difference. Sometimes people just get in the flesh and they are not necessarily evil or have an evil spirit, they just may make mistakes so we have to be very careful with this subject.

Discernment intersects the Christian life at every point. And God’s Word provides us with the needed discernment about every issue of life. According to Peter, God “has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3). You see, it is through the “true knowledge of Him,” that we have been given everything we need to live a Christian life in this fallen world. And how else do we have true knowledge of God but through the pages of His Word, the Bible? In fact, Peter goes on to say that such knowledge comes through God’s granting “to us His precious and by magnificent promises” (2 Peter 1:4).

Signs of Spiritual Growth in Christian Life

All living things grow like human beings. We watch babies learns to crawl, to walk and to talk. We grow from total dependance on our parents to eventually being parents are ourselves. The maturing process is a journey to independence. Our spiritual journeys are just the opposite. We start off in rebellion against God, thinking we are fully independent from Him. Spiritual maturity, then, is the process of recognizing our complete dependence on God and learning to rely on Him rather than ourselves. As we grow and mature in our relationship with Him, we realize how much we need Him! But for all the talk we hear about spiritual growth, it’s often difficult to understand exactly what that looks like.

Most of the time churches and ministries focus on getting people into church, getting them to pray a prayer and being there  But after that, there isn’t always a lot of post-decision care. New people coming into the church might call themselves Christians, but they might not have much of an idea what that means on a daily basis. Following Jesus isn’t just a one-time decision. It’s a daily process of growth. That growth is a biblical imperative. The expectation of Scripture isn’t that we grow old together, but that we grow up together. The book of Hebrews lays this out as a strong rebuke: “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child (Hebrews 5:11-13).So what does growth look like in the life of a Christian?SIGNS OF GROWTH IN A CHRISTIAN LIFE:
1. YOU’RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT GOD…..When you love something, you get to know it. When we don’t know Jesus, don’t know His gospel, don’t grow in it, that is indicative of the fact that our love for Him is either non-existent or at best immature.

2. YOU’RE DIGGING INTO DEEPER THEOLOGY….. Just as a child’s diet changes as he or she matures, so does the baby Christian’s. The metaphor of 1 Peter 2, we start off on the “milk” of basic truths about God and his work, but the expectation is that we grow. Beyond the basics, anyone who has been a Christian for some time should be able to “chew” on more advanced concepts. The foundation should be built for them to grow.

3. YOU’RE NOT WAITING ON OTHERS TO FEED YOU…..Too many Christians “Pew Warmers”  still want a pastor or leader to spoon feed them by telling them what to think, what to read, and so on. That’s not good enough for growing Christians. You absolutely should seek out a church with sound theology and Gospel-centered preaching that challenges you. But anyone who has been a Christian for longer than a year should be able at least partially be able too to feed themselves.

4. YOU’RE LEARNING AND TEACHING….Notice that the expectation of Scripture is that, in time, all Christians should be teachers: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). It’s not necessarily that we all stand up on a stage and preach at church, it’s that anyone who has been a Christian for a reasonable duration of time should be able to not only understand the Word of God, we should be able to teach it to others. Teaching the Gospel is a biblical expectation for all Christians. The gift of teaching is not for all, of course, but the ability to relay, share and help others grow on a micro level is for all of us!

5. YOU’RE GROWING IN GRACE……Peter tells us that we should be growing in grace. This is to share the heart of God. Not to desire justice or retribution for those who wrong us but for our lives to be characterized by grace. Our default response should not be anger or bitterness but forgiveness and grace. Even when people don’t deserve it. Because that’s what grace is.

6.  YOU FIND YOURSELF WANTING TO OBEY GOD……In John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” One of the natural expectations of a growing Christian is faithfulness and obedience to the commands of God. Not out of duty, but out of love for Him. Our obedience results from what Jesus has done for us and of our love for Him.

7. YOU’RE GROWING AS A PERSON…..The apostle Paul, in Colossians 1:10, talks about bearing fruit. In Galatians 5:22-23, he lays out the fruit of the Spirit: : Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. One of the best ways to measure growth is by looking at this fruit in our lives. We are all different, and so we’ll all see certain fruit from this list growing more naturally than others. Joy may happen for you with ease and be the most challenge for one of your friends. Still here’s the thing: All of this fruit should be visible not just in our own self-assessment. Impartial outsiders should be able to observe these fruits growing in our lives. If other people don’t see evidence of this fruit in our lives, then perhaps our fruit is not growing as much as we think it is.

8.  YOU’RE LESS WORRIED ABOUT PERSONAL PREFERENCES AND MORE CONCERNED ABOUT UNITY…..Paul, in Ephesians 4:13-15, notes that unity of the faith and knowledge of Jesus are measures of fullness in Christ. The war of personal preferences that dominates consumeristic Christianity is not a result of maturity but evidence of a lack of it. It’s not wrong to have a blend of styles between churches, but the degree to which believers expect or even make efforts to change a church based on their preferences often causes a substantial lack of unity.

9. YOU’RE WILLING TO SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE …..Paul teaches us in Ephesians 4:15-16, to speak the truth in love and to grow in Christ in which makes the whole body grow in love. This flies directly in the face of our culture’s obsession with avoiding offense. Still, it’s God’s truth. But it also doesn’t mean banging people over the head with everything you disagree with. As you grow spiritually, you’ll learn not to avoid hard topics, but to speak into the lives of other believers—always with loving humility and grace.

10.  YOU’RE ENGAGED IN COMMUNITY……The writer of Hebrews encourages us to continue meeting together. In a culture moving further and further from regular church involvement, the Bible teaches that growing, mature Christians will continually and consistently meet together. We are created for community.

Beloved Saints of God, it’s easy to call ourselves Christians. It’s easy to stay where we are. Growing takes work. We have to be intentional.

The Gospel is like the gym: the more we get in it, the more it shapes our lives. If we only engage once a week, it will take a long time to see results. Our love for Jesus should compel us to grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him, so we can become more like Him.

7 PROFOUND PRINCIPLES FOR SUCCESS: BE CELEBRATED NOT TOLERATE

Go to where you are celebrated not tolerated. You are the one that is in control on earth. God gets control in anything you do through the control you yield to Him. With these in mind you are the one who chose which ever location you are. There are many things that affect your success; one of the major things is the location and the people you live with. You chose where you live in, people you associate with, people you work with, and people you are in friendship with.

Therefore if you understand the consequences that comes with being where you are celebrated and being where you are tolerated, you will rather be careful in choosing where you spend your time and people you recite with.

This understanding will empower you on your quest for success.

What does it mean to be tolerated? It means to withstand the unpleasant effects of something or someone. When someone is tolerated people might not like him but for one reason or the other they’ll just endure to have him around. The reason might range from enduring your presence for one or all these reasons; Your money; Your gifting; Your looks; Your parents; Your brother / sister Your connections.

The philistines living in Gerar tolerated Isaac for the sake of their King. The King had to issue a decree that say anyone who touches Isaac shall be put to death. The Egyptians could not withstand the Israelites coming in to live in their country if it was not for Joseph’s sake. The moment he died, they enslaved the Israelites.

People who tolerate you can celebrate your gifting but they are in competition with you. Your success is a threat to them. They might laugh with you, greed you but they don’t feel secured having you around only for their selfish advantages. They are envious of you, so far they are ahead of you and you are not up to them in status. They don’t show their jealousy, but the moment you catch up with them or ahead of them, they they’ll do everything to pull you down or hinder your progress. Your success manifests their competitive jealousy.

PROV. 13:18 Danger of un teachable spirit.

They become hostile. This is exactly what the Gerar’s did to Isaac. People like that become energy takers. The precious energy that you are suppose to channel towards accomplishing your vision on advancing yourself, you begin to use it in trying to make peace towards relationship with jealous people. You will be worn out if you go to a place where are tolerated. It will take you a longer time and more energy to accomplish anything in such environment. What you need to do is to;

1)  Avoid going to areas where you are tolerated

2)  Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the heart of people you are with

3)  Learn to study the expressions of people you are dealing with and pay attention to what they say. Their words betray them at times. They might make nasty comments about you and say they are joking. Be careful of those who make expensive jokes about you always.

4)  Don’t rush into relationships because time has a way of revealing people’s true character. If they do it to other people be sure that sooner or later your turn will come. It is their character to suppress and hack people down. Where to be is where you are celebrated. To be celebrated means to praise something or make it famous.

When you are where you are celebrated you’ll be praised genuinely. When you are praised;

1)  You become highly motivated to achieve more which means you will be given a higher platform for promotion.

2)  Made famous. To be made famous means you’ll be marketed. When you are marketed the people become your ambassadors for promotion, they spread your good works abroad thereby enlarging your sphere of operation which will in turn enlarge your territory. It is worth while to mention that you can only maximize your potentials when you operate amongst people that celebrate you.

That is why Jesus never went to places where He was not celebrated. People who commonised Jesus never taped into His power. The same thing holds true with God, you cannot get the power of God to work for you if you don’t celebrate Him.

Ps 22:3 BUT THOU ART HOLY, O THOU THAT INHABITEST THE PRAISES OF ISRAEL.

This reveals that God dwells where He is praised for that is the only place that His power can be manifested. We should do like wise because we are commanded to imitate God not only so, if praises unlocks God’s power, praises will surely unlock the exceeding power of God that is on your inside for explosive results in your life.

How do you locate people who genuinely celebrate you?

1)  They pray for your success in life.

2)  They compliment your life for success not competition

3)  They see your short comings as their short coming.

4)  They unconditionally support your success in life

5)  They talk about your good works and success

6)  They are not threaten by you, they therefore let you know their weaknesses and strengths

7)  Most importantly they seek long relationships with you.

People who celebrate you are always out to cover you. They cry and feel the pains of your short comings but those who tolerate you rejoice at your short comings, seeing it as an opportunity for their promotion Imagine the productive atmosphere that will be created for you to succeed by being amongst people or in places where you are celebrated.

Therefore develop your relationship with the Holy Spirit to show you who are the people that celebrate you as a person not just tolerating you because of what you possess. You need to value people who celebrate you and show them that you really appreciate them. Remember if people celebrate you and you don’t reciprocate, it means that you don’t celebrate them but tolerating them.

This is why God told Isaac not to dwell in Gerar but to dwell in the land that He will show him. I pray that you will live by this teaching so that your success will be glorious. Everything locked up on your inside will surely find expression in Jesus name.

Be A Novice Learner In God’s Kingdom

saiah 43:19 NKJV  “Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

God is saying: “I am doing a new thing,” He is saying this: “I have a new normal for you; life as you know it is going to change.”  God simply wanted to take you into a lifestyle of walking with Him in a new way—encountering Him in a different way than you had before? You’ll discover God has a “new normal” for you in your journey of intimacy with Him.

“The Kingdom’s always advancing…and our Father wants us to live in dependency upon Him, so that what we minister is of Him.”

“I want you to be novices in the new, not experts in the old.” when it comes to the realm of hearing from God saying this to us and this will makes one feeling like a child starting school.

Be a “Learner in God’s Kingdom” just like a beginner or a “Novice” in the new. What does this mean for you today? This is about an attitude of being a learner and a child in God’s Kingdom, having room to grow.

Matthew 18:3 NKJV  “and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

It’s going to cost us our comfort, because to be a “novice in the new” means admitting we don’t know much and that we don’t have it all together. It’s about having a relationship with Jesus. It’s about growing in intimacy with God.

It’s a season for Your Own Awakening and Encounters! Right now, the Holy Spirit may be bringing something to mind for you, and He’s saying, “Surrender your life; your gifts, skills, ministry and work over to Me. Give Me your family and relationships.”

Whatever your personal area of “expertise” is, take off the lid. Be a novice in the new. And remember, you have your own personal relationship with God, and your

Beloved saints of God, this Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost

Many believers around the world may not understand the meaning of this traditional Christian celebration. Whether they have been observing Pentecost for years, or whether it is a completely new concept to them! Enclosed

REASON WHY WE CELEBRATE PENTECOST:1. Pentecost Reminds Us Of The Holy Spirit, Period. For some Believers does not know or have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Blessed Trinity! Holy  Spirit is kind of like “the forgotten God,” as Francis Chan expressed it. We talk much of “God,” or “Jesus,” but the Holy Spirit gets less attention. Maybe it’s because we don’t understand Him. Maybe we’re afraid of “getting all charismatic.” Whatever the case, Pentecost is worth celebrating if, for no other reason, we celebrate the Holy Spirit. In so doing, we neglect him no longer!!!
2. Pentecost Reminds Us Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit.  One single word to describe the events on Pentecost, it would be the word, “POWER.” To a huddled group of discouraged disciples, there came the sound of hurricane-force winds, the strange presence of flames above each head, and then an explosion of gospel witness that catapulted the Jerusalem church to a force that was too large to ignore. When several dozen men and women proclaim the truth among thousands of people, each one hearing them in his or her own language, you know something powerful is at work. Pentecost was where it started.

3. Pentecost Reminds Us Of The Importance Of The Great Commission.
In order to really grasp the “why” of Pentecost, it helps to understand the “when.” Pentecost took place on the heels of Jesus’ final command, “Go and make disciples.” After a brief pause — like the calm before a mighty storm — the Holy Spirit arrived. A major part of his mission was to empower the disciples to fulfill Christ’s command. The injunction to make disciples of all nations and teach them all things is a tall order. Only the Spirit could aid them. When we celebrate Pentecost, we can’t help but realize the magnificent responsibility we have been given in the Great Commission.

4. Pentecost Encourages Us In Our Labor. The Book of Acts opens with a loud bang on the arrival of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:2 and the world begins to be turned upside down by the Church in Acts 17:6. The remainder of the Book of Acts chronicles the tireless labor of Peter, Paul, and others as they experience labors, imprisonments, beatings, being stoned, shipwrecks, danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from their own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. How in the world did they keep going? It was the Spirit. Throughout the entire Book of Acts, we see the theme of the Holy Spirit’s activity. He appears on virtually every page in the book. Although the book is traditionally called “The Acts of the Apostles,” it is more appropriate to call it “The Acts of the Holy Spirit.” This should encourage us. We, too, are hard at work — in our churches, in our workplace, in our homes, in nurseries, in VBS, in sharing the gospel, and in living out our faith. Where do we get the strength to go on? It is from the Holy Spirit. Pentecost gives us a wonderful opportunity to look afresh at our God, the Holy Spirit, and experience the encouragement that He delights to give.

5. Pentecost Gives Us Hope. One of the reasons why celebrating Pentecost is such a glorious thing is because of its hope-giving power. When the disciples scurried off to their upper room retreat after Jesus’ ascension, they may have been a rather discouraged group. Here they were — a handful of people, invested with great truth, and commissioned with great promise. But where was the power? What could they do? The arrival of the Holy Spirit was nothing short of shocking. In His power, they had hope. Things were happening! Thousands were converted! The church mushroomed in size! The truth was proclaimed in every language! Here was hope! But what about today? Is there any hope for us today? Absolutely, yes. We have the same Holy Spirit, and He is no less powerful than He was at Pentecost.

6. Pentecost Overwhelms Us With A Sense Of Awe And Reverential Worship.
Those who meditate little upon the greatness of God will little appreciate his infinitude. But when we look — really look — at our God in all His fullness, we can’t help but be overwhelmed. Seizing opportunity at Pentecost to meditate upon the Holy Spirit will create in every believer a yearning for His power and a sense of humility in the face of His grandeur. This Holy Spirit whom we so easily take for granted ….lives in us…. is God, in all His holiness, infinity, majesty, and glory.

Have confidence and be certain that it will happen. Now you will have all that you need—more than enough—so that you are completely satisfied! You are free to enjoy the abundance that is before you because My favor is yours.
